I was born in Wichita Falls, Texas, where I spent only three years of my life. Because of my dad’s career in the U.S. Air Force, my family did not stay in one place for very long. Thanks to my parents’ love for the Lord, I was able to be part of multiple church families in Macon, GA; Montgomery, AL; and Valdosta, Ga. When I was four years old, I heard the Gospel, recognized my need for salvation, and asked God to save me. However, as I was growing up, all I really cared about was myself.
It wasn’t until the end of high school that I began to realize I was not truly living for the Lord. Although I went to church every week, it was only because I had to, and that was the extent of my relationship with God. Over the last six years, I have had the opportunity to serve as a counselor at Camp Hosanna in Hiawassee, GA, and at Anchorage Christian Camp in Lake Waccamaw, NC. Even before counseling, as I worked at the Anchorage on operational staff throughout high school, the Lord has used camp ministries in my life to give me a passion for that type of evangelism and discipleship.
I recently graduated from Bob Jones University with a bachelor’s degree in criminal justice. Over the past few years the Lord has shown me what true faith looks like through the passage Matthew 6. In Matthew 6:33–34, He says: “But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you. Take therefore no thought for the morrow: for the morrow shall take thought for the things of itself. Sufficient unto the day is the evil thereof.” The Lord has now led me to travel with this evangelistic team as I seek to take each next step He provides.
