I am from Columbiaville, Michigan, where my family has served as the Pastor’s family for around 15 years. I had the privilege of growing up in a Christian home where my parents taught us the gospel at a young age. When I was four years old, I began to wonder what salvation meant and would ask my mom a lot of questions about Heaven and Hell, and what it meant to be a Christian. I came to the realization that I needed to ask Jesus to take away my sins and forgive me, so that I would be His child, and I asked Him into my heart. When I was around ages 13 or 14, I began to doubt my salvation because I couldn’t remember what words I had prayed and I wasn’t sure if I have truly believed at that age. I would pray the salvation prayer over and over again, but I still struggled with believing that with one prayer God would truly save me. During that time, I was serving God in church and made it look like everything was fine, but I never truly had a close relationship with Him where I was growing in God’s Word. I began attending Crown College where I studied cosmetology and my Bachelors in Business. During my second year of college, I was so sick of the doubting and the sin of unbelief in my life, and not truly knowing whether I was saved. I remember one night just staying up and reading through the Book of Romans looking for an answer that would help me. I got to Romans 4-5, specifically verses 20-5:1, where it talks about how Abraham believed the promise of God and it was “imputed for righteousness” because he believed in the promise of the Lord that He would do what He said He would. In verses 23-24 it says, “Now it was not written for his sake alone, that it was imputed to him; But for us also, to whom it shall be imputed, if we believe on him that raised up Jesus our Lord from the dead;” I remember reading this and finally realizing that I had been relying on myself and the words that I had prayed, rather than Jesus Christ to save me from my sins, and the words that I had said in my prayer. I then prayed and confessed to the Lord my sin of unbelief, and truly believed in my heart that He has saved me and will do what He has promised. After that point in my life, my relationship with the Lord started to grow and become more personal.
I was able this past summer to work at the Wilds of New England, and I learned throughout the summer to depend on Him for everything and not look to myself for strength. The Lord led the opportunity at the end of the summer to be able to serve with my violin on the Frazor Team. I am so excited for what the Lord is going to do, and how we can be used by Him as we travel.
